LAKE OF FIRE

Note: Lake of Fire clarification:

In biblical terms, the “lake of fire” is a symbolic, fiery place of eternal punishment and the ultimate destination for the unrepentant, Satan, and his followers. It is described in the Book of Revelation as a symbol of the “second death,” representing final destruction and separation from God.

“Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels” (Matthew 25:41). The lake of fire is not here on the earth.

The Devil does not die in the lake of fire; instead, he and his demons are thrown into the lake of fire for eternal torment and restraint, a state described as the “second death” where they are never to be heard from again, ensuring complete annihilation from existence in the physical [created] realm. While the wicked humans who are cast into the lake of fire face annihilation and are killed, the Devil’s fate is described as continuous torment, never truly dying but being permanently destroyed. It is inescapable, eternal punishment, torment, and separation from God, with no possibility of release or a second chance.

The “Lake of Fire” is not a literal physical geographical location but a symbolic concept in the Bible, primarily mentioned in the Book of Revelation. It represents the second death, eternal destruction, and a place of separation and punishment for the wicked and those who reject God. Its meaning is rooted in the Jewish concept of Gehenna, a garbage-filled valley outside Jerusalem where constant fires and maggots destroyed refuse, which Jesus used as a symbol of permanent destruction.

When a new heaven and earth are established, the Lake of Fire is removed from the presence of God and the saints, possibly in a distant, separate location or a state of being removed from God’s immediate presence to serve as a place of eternal separation from God for those who rebelled against Him.

The Lake of Fire will be located in the heavenly [spiritual realms — spiritual dimension]  places, not in the [created] physical realm. Therefore, its existence is not impacted by the destruction [a state of lasting ruin, no influence or power, loss, or perpetual torment, rather than simple nonexistence] of the first heavens and earth following the 1,000-year kingdom, since it is not a part of the created universe.

Destroy [here] means ruined, ending influence, loss of spiritual standing or leadership, or removing from a position.

Quickly [here] means death and dissolution of humans in the Lake of Fire, considering that the Devil, Angels, and Demons will not die.  Quick is dependent on God’s determination of how long he thinks appropriate as punishment for the individual unsaved humans.

Fallen Angels and Demons/evil spirits are spirit beings created by God who rebelled against God.
