Jesus was crucified earlier than Friday. We celebrate Easter because Christians changed the date to coincide with a pagan holiday Easter [a pagan deity]. They did the same with Christmas [Jesus was born in the Summer not Winter].
The actual day does not matter. What matters is that we remember He came, died on calvery, and arose. ]Thus, preaching the “Good News”, paying the sin penalty, God Almighty accepted the payment of the sin penalty, and Jesus is now sitting at the right hand of God Almighty in Heaven. He will come at the Rapture, Second Coming, and will rule under God Almighty for all eternity.
It is all in remembrance of what happened and not based on the actual days. Some ministers/preachers get all caught up in the dates and pagan holidays and such, but it is the remembrance that is important.
Personally, I am grateful for the events and when I want to [any time of the year] remember it and say thank you to God and Jesus in prayer. I am sorry Jesus had to go through all that in my behalf [and others], but am thankful Jesus did it.

You can find the event in the Bible and study it. Jesus actually died on a Wednesday as Jewish Sunday is actually on Saturday not Sunday.
